Howdy! Thank you so much for being part of IEEE this quarter!
It’s been an exciting quarter meeting all of you at our Fall General Meeting, Projects Info Session, GB, lectures, socials, and seeing so many new faces in the lab. I haven’t been able to learn as many of your names as I would have liked though, so please feel free to say hi and introduce yourself if you see me in the lab!
Now that you’ve all had a chance to get a feel for what IEEE has to offer, it's time to get HYPED about the rest of the year. Stay tuned for a very eventful and unique winter quarter, possibly including but not limited to more socials, academic/professional events, and even a tennis match-up involving Professor Sehatbakhsh and a certain IVP.
If you want to find ways to get more involved with IEEE, keep your eye on Discord, Instagram, and our Newsletter to join the fun. Of course, you are always welcome to reach out to me or any other officers with any questions you might have or just to chat :)
Happy Holidays and see you in the new year!
Sincerely,
PreSIDDHANT
P.S None of this very successful quarter could not happen without a board of almost 30 officers working together. If you want to be part of the officer board for 2024-2025, start thinking about what might be a good fit for you – elections will be in early spring quarter!

What is poppin my IEEE children????!!!!!
From the first time we met at engineering welcome day and Fall GM (not pictured)...
To our moments bonding at lowkey organized spontaneous socials and finally at General Board reveal where I became your official GB mom (or grandma?)...
And at our “capstone” event of the quarter–the IEEE holiday special (sorry I forgot to take more photos of the people who were in attendance)...
It has been an amazing quarter of new faces becoming familiar ones and more people joining our IEEE FamilIEEE :) Whether you’re in a GB or just a casual IEEE enjoyer, there’s more quirky annoucements, GB events and club-wide socials, frIEEE food, and bad jokes coming for you in 2024! Stay tuned!!!

Events Coordinators
Hi hi everyone!
Happy end of another successful quarter! We had a great time handling the behind-the-scenes details of our events: making sure you are housed and fed throughout your project lectures, worksessions, and general member events. Besides that, we want to give a very big THANK YOU to everyone who came out to our first event, Fall Picnic! We had so much fun getting to know all of you and we hope you had as much fun as we had playing our ultra-friendly and *ultra-competitive* games! Y’all are the most spirited IEEEngineers out there!
Don’t forget to come out to our socials next quarter to meet and get to know more of your fellow members in IEEE and really get IEEEnvolved in events. Also, if you have anything you want to eat at our events, don’t hesitate to let us know! All ears are always open for discussion about food :))) Can’t wait to see you all very very soon >:) !!

Outreach
Hey IEEE,
What a quarter! All those lectures and all of those projects for y’all to absolutely conquer the bounds of engineering. From the admin board perspective we’ve seen your progress and it’s been an incredible journey. Keep up the good work, your dedication shines!
On the outreach front, our Cerritos Workshops were a hit, providing hands-on engineering experience to community college students to take what we do here at UCLA and put it on the road. Exploring Your Universe (EYU) and TEDx Manhattan Beach were next level opportunities to showcase our projects, inspire the next generation, and network with industry reps. But the excitement doesn't stop there as SOLES invited us to lead an Electrical Engineering workshop at Engineers in Training, furthering this year’s goal to be more collaborative with our UCLA peer organizations. It’s our goal to inspire students to pursue their passions and bring innovative ideas to the table, regardless of age or demographic. To our committee, thank you for your passion and commitment.
On that note, we are very excited to open the Outreach Committee entirely next quarter for all to join. That’s right! For those first year’s interested in helping the community grow we hope you consider applying here: http://tinyurl.com/OC-Winter-App
Also, know that your feedback is always appreciated so please let us know what you might want to see as an Outreach event. We're all ears.
See you next quarter,
Eli & Nathan
Corporate Relations
Hey Everyone!
Nothing helps with character development like some professional development ya know what I mean?! I hope you all took the chance to come out to one of our many corporate events this quarter: Intel Day, TSMC recruiting, are our collaboration event the Corporate Mocktail Mixer! I thought the Epic at Ackerman lines were long until I saw some lines to speak to our visiting recruiters. Sincerely thank you all for coming out to these events and they are just a sampler of what’s to come as early as week one in Winter quarter!
Most of my work this quarter has gone into getting our corporate partners for IDEA Hacks 2024! Slight plug, please sign up for that event if you haven’t already (link should be in this newsletter). I am confident we have done the work to put on a well planned and funded event for you all to explore your passion for hardware projects (massive shoutouts to Taylor & Theo ofc). Expect some interesting corporate representatives at the event that are eager to talk with all of you talented students!
Have a restful break, be kind to yourself and others
Evan
OPS
Greetings OPS students!
Thank you for a wonderful first quarter! Beginning with circuit theory fundamentals, we proceeded to breadboard, debug circuits, use circuit schematics and read datasheets to build your first two projects. We are so proud of all of you — your questions and engagement during lectures and worksessions (especially worksessions!) is evidence enough of the time and effort you’ve invested thus far, and it shows us you’re quickly picking up the material we cover. Next quarter we will be using the Arduino itself, and stepping up to a new class of projects; we’re very excited to see the many directions you’ll take then, with the complete OPS kit at your disposal!
Have a restful break, and see you soon!

Micromouse
Hello Micromousers!
What a crazy quarter. From all the content you all learned from our lectures, to rushing to get your rats ready for Rat competition, every single one of you has truly shown us your dedication and passion for this splendid project. By now, you have built and coded a (mostly) functioning rat that can navigate through a maze. On the hardware side, you have learned the circuit schematics for each major subsystem and the reasoning behind each component in the schematics. Additionally, on the coding side, you now have learned how to use STMCubeIDE to code all the various functionalities of your motors and sensors, and also to code for PID and your wall following algorithm. There were certainly many unexpected bumps and hurdles along the way, with issues ranging from soldering and nonfunctioning STM boards, to weird STMCube IDE behavior. Despite it all, you persevered and made it to the end of the quarter! Thank you to everyone who came and participated in the Rat Competition! All of you did great and we are looking forward to the progress you all make in the coming quarters.
Tune in for next quarter where you will learn how to make your own designs and spec out your own components!

Pocket Racers
Hi Pocket Racerererererererers!
We can’t tell you how much we appreciate everyone coming to the lectures, worksessions, and lab hours. From the enthusiasm at the jeopardy game to the scuffed surprise birthday worksession
We hope (haha) everyone had a great first quarter with Pocket Racers. It has been tough with all the troubleshooting and weird issues, but you all really powered through and made it very far. We promise it will get easier from here on out, until it doesn’t lol. But you all should be really proud of your code and cars and scars (please don’t actually have scars).
We can’t tell you how much we appreciate everyone coming to the lectures, worksessions, and lab hours. It was great to see the enthusiasm during the jeopardy game, the commiseration during the 3D support removal, and finally the enjoyment of some cake during the scuffed surprise birthday worksession. This project is still very much in its infancy and the chaos that comes with figuring this all out can be a lot… Pocket Racers is lucky to have members as bright and awesome as you guys during this critical time of growth and change.
Hope and Justin avail themselves of this opportunity to renew the Pocket Racers’ Members the assurances of their highest consideration.
DAV
Hey, DAVvers!
Thank you for an amazing first quarter! From the many struggles with Quartus / Questa, your first taste of timing issues, and learning about the ✨wonderful world of signal processing, ✨you all have come a long way since the first lecture, even if it’s not that obvious. In fact, through the first three lectures alone, we’ve spedran (speedran? spedrun?) CS M51A/ECE M16 and ECE 102 topics. If you need to take CS M152A / EE M116L, you have all the base knowledge you need for that course!
We know it’s not easy to balance any IEEE project with a college workload, so we thank you for your active participation and hard work. Next quarter marks the beginning of your capstones and design reviews, so we look forward to seeing your creativity and innovation with your projects. Have a wonderful winter break!
Claire & Prem
DAVelop your future.
WRAP
Dearest WRAPpers,
Hope you’re getting a well-deserved break after the joyous chaos of the quarter. We’ve really enjoyed spending time with y’all during lectures, lab hours, and work sessions – we miss you already!
This quarter, we had 3 lectures that were crash courses on ECE 115A/115B and ECE 132A and hopefully we didn’t crash too hard lol. Congrats on completing Modules 1-3 and if you struggled on them, that’s awesome because it means you’re learning. We’re super proud of you all for being able to *wrap* your head around the tough concepts.
It only gets more fun from here on out, as we transition from the foundational learning phase to the exciting R&D phase of the project (i.e. how are we gonna get this thing to work?) so we can’t wait to jump back into things next quarter.
Love,
Grace and Zayyir
Workshops
Heyyyyyy Workshops enjoyers!
And another quarter bites the dust. Thank you all so much for being a part of our journey this year! This quarter, you have learned the basics of circuits and breadboarding, learned how to solder through hole components, design pcbs and make brilliant resumes(all to the tune of Anti-Hero by Taylor Swift)! From Basic Circuits to the Halloween Makeshop to our course planning social, we had a blast in every event.
Next quarter, we plan to host a plethora of cool workshops starting from our test equipment workshop! We cant wait to spend the next year with you all :))))
Your favorite workshops leads,
Josh and Sanjit
