Ask an alumni!
How did you transition from being an engineering student to a professional in your field, and what were the biggest challenges you faced during that transition?
“I had research and internship experience when I was in school, which were very helpful for the transition. The internship helped a lot, as I returned to the same group working full-time after graduation and I already knew the people I was going to work with.”
What are the biggest expectations companies have for new graduates, and how can students prepare to meet or exceed those expectations?
“In a health setting, you should be expected to learn from your job and ask questions from your mentor(s) when you are stuck. You should align with your manager about your work expectations during your 1on1 meeting, if they have not outlined it to you in your first week. Don't be shy to ask "dumb" questions or for help. This is the time no one will judge you for that.”
