Projects
ECTF Worksession
7:15 to 8:45 pm on April 9th, 2024 in the IEEE Lab
DAV Workshop 3
6:15 to 9:00 pm on April 10th, 2024 in the Faraday Room
OPS Project 6 Worksession
6:00 to 8:00 pm on April 11th, 2024 in the IEEE Lab
If you thought we'd be done with LED projects by now, you've thought wrong! From 6 to 8 PM in the IEEE lab, Thursday, April 11th, OPS is having its one (1) worksession for project 6, the Distance Sensor! Use an IR emitter and receiver pair, along with your trusty Arduino, to measure the amount of light, and therefore the distance, between your IR pair and objects. It's a pretty quick project, so this worksession should suffice to complete the project!
WRAP Hardware Lecture
5:00 to 7:00 pm on April 12th, 2024 in the Faraday Room
Hi everyone! Join us for the second to last HW lecture where we put the entire system together (This means combining all the blocks we've done so far)!!. We will cover general system design concepts and go over various methods of impedance matching and if time permits a sneak peak into what we will cover in the following lecture on amplifier design.
Opportunities/Plugs
Do you want to be an undergraduate researcher in computer science? Apply to take the Spring 2024 Computer Science Supervised Research Course! In this course, students will select a research project contributed by a Computer Science Lab at UCLA to complete over the course of the quarter. Students will be provided guidance from PhD students and faculty in the course. Students will present their results at the end of the quarter to the Faculty, their assigned PhD student and industry representatives. The goal of this research class is to establish your potential as a successful undergraduate researcher and land a role in a CS research lab at UCLA! Complete this short application by Thursday, April 11 at 11:59 PM to be considered: https://forms.gle/jBnNGduHP3iNvPov9 If you have any questions about the course, please email ava24@g.ucla.edu !!
Member of the Week
Jerard Agravante
Year and major: Sophomore, Electrical Engineering
Involvement with IEEE: DAV, Pocket Racer, Outreach Committee
Hobbies: Tennis, Basketball, Running, Cooking, Anime
Favorite memory with IEEE: Leading a workshop for the Engineering Horizons outreach event and grinding away with my friends for Idea Hacks are definitely up there for me!
Your most useless talent or fun fact: Staying up way too late (what is a sleep schedule)
What you would be doing if time and money were not an issue: I would travel and explore the world wherever that may take me. I also really want to learn how to paint. Of course, goofing off with friends is a must on the to do list.
Piece of advice to our readers: Have Fun! Simple as that. Study hard, do projects, join clubs, and go out of your comfort zone, but make sure, you enjoy what you are doing! Nothing can beat passion.
