IEEE and ACM Cyber are teaming up to take on an exciting new initiative: Embedded Capture the Flag(ECTF). Incorporating Cybersecurity and Embedded Hardware, this capture the flag challenge takes on hardware hacking and embedded systems. Come join us for our kick-off workshop with our faculty advisor Professor Nader Sehatbakhsh this Tuesday, October 17th in Young Hall CS50 at 6 PM to learn more about the event.
Lowkey Organized Spontaneous Social #1
6:00 to 7:30 pm on Oct 20th, 2023 starting in the IEEE Lab into Westwood
Love affordable boba and IEEE? Well, look no further because we are having our very first Lowkey Organized Spontaneous Social where we will be meeting at the IEEE Lab at 6pm and walking down to Just Boba in Westwood!
Why Just Boba? Well that's because if you all download Snackpass and put your credit/debit card information into the app, we can start a "Snackpass Party" where we basically order as a group, but each person pays for themselves. If you have 3+ people in your party, you get 20% off!!!! Woohooo!!!!!!
So if your name is Parth and if your name isn't Parth, download Snackpass, put your card info in and meet us at 6pm in the lab Friday October 20th! Also, if you don't have a credit card or prefer not to use Snackpass, no worries, one of the officers can order for you and you can Venmo Zelle them!

6:00 to 8:00pm on October 16th, 2023 in the Shannon Room & IEEE Lab
You will first learn about Micromouse and what we will do over the course of the quarter. Then you will learn about the power schematic portion of the Rat design to understand how the rest of the components receive power.
After the first Micromouse lecture, come join us in the IEEE Lab to meet your fellow Micromousers and form your dream teams!
DAV Lecture 1
6:15 to 8:00pm on October 17th, 2023 in Shannon Room
WRAP Lecture 1

OPS Lecture 1
6:00 to 7:30pm on October 19th, 2023 in Moore 100
Open Project Space is the introductory, beginner-friendly project at IEEE, and it's time to start learning! We'll be kicking off the school year with the first lecture of quarter, an introduction to circuits, where students will learn all the key concepts they need to start fiddling with circuit components and create their very own circuit designs. This OPS lecture will be the foundation for all future ones, so make sure to show up! It'll be hosted in Mathematical Sciences 5137 on Thursday, October 19th from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM. Be ready to have your mind blown; it's going to be OPSulent!

Member of the Week
Taylor Kawate
Year and major: Senior, Electrical Engineering
Involvement with IEEE: External Vice President, Corporate Relations Officer, GB Lead, WRAP/DAV/OPS member
Hobbies: Gaming (speedrunning), sneakers, fashion, listening to music
Favorite memory with IEEE: Speedrunning Minecraft in front of everyone at IDEA Hacks this past year was such a fun and surreal experience!!! A close second was when I set up the LiveSplit timer with Tim at AAMC - my speedrunning skills finally applying to real life :)
Your most useless talent or fun fact: My first speedrun was on Super Mario Bros DS, where I tried to beat the final boss as fast as I could, just for fun.
What you would be doing if time and money were not an issue: I would probably be working on art a lot more!
Piece of advice to our readers: For those of you who don't know exactly what you want to do, it's ok! Just keep trying things, you'll eventually find areas you like and don't like. It will take time but it will be worth it, just keep exploring :)
