No previous soldering experience is required and we highly encourage those who have never tried to come on down and see what it’s all about! Micromouse Lecture 2
6:00 to 7:15pm on October 24th, 2023 in the Shannon Room
Now that you hopefully have your rat PCB powered, come to our second lecture to learn how to get it to move and track the amount it travels. : ) TLDR: Make Rat go vroom.
DAV Workshop 1

OPS Workshop 1
6:00 to 8:00pm on October 26th, 2023 in the IEEE Lab
Drum roll please... it's time for the first Open Project Space worksession! OPS students, prepare to get your hands dirty and apply your newfound knowledge from the first OPS lecture to an actual, physical circuit. Project 1 is the LED Circuit, so bring your OPS boxes and a focused mind to the IEEE lab on October 26th, during Week 4, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM to work on the first project of the OPS program. The IEEE lab will be open for these two hours for OPS students to come by, work on their projects, and ask questions to OPS leads on standby nearby. See you there!
Opportunities/Plugs
Hi! I'm Nathan, one of your Outreach Coordinators this year. I am currently conducting an anonymous study targeted towards the various undergraduate members of IEEE. The survey should take about 2 minutes to fill out, and if you would like to participate, please follow the link below: tinyurl.com/nathans-user-study-2023
Member of the Week
Theo Zhang
Year and major: Junior, Computer Science
Involvement with IEEE: External Vice President 2023-2024, Secretary and EDI Chair 2022-2023, Shredded ChIEEEse GB Lead, Pocket Racers Member 2022-23, OPS Member 2021-2022, IM Cornhole
Hobbies: Reading a lot, sewing, writing, learning the guitar
Favorite memory with IEEE: Leading a GB with Claire (the current DAV lead!) was so much fun; I loved getting to hang out with more general members. Got up to some real shenanigans like screenprinting shirts and dying our hair! Also IM cornhole has been a real blast.
Your most useless talent or fun fact: I’m really good at buying shoes (no, I don’t have a problem. The EVPs are just both really into shoes 😁)
What you would be doing if time and money were not an issue: Become an artist and read a lot of books in interesting locations, like the Swiss Alps. I think I would also get really into community organizing and do a bunch of volunteering and get to interact with various people.
Piece of advice to our readers: Generally, things will work out if you try your best to do work you enjoy or value, find other things outside work to enjoy (like communities and hobbies), and prioritize taking care of your mental and physical health. Life is always crazy and unpredictable so learn to love and manage the chaos by taking care of yourself and prioritizing what is important!
