EDI Townhall
IEEE, WATT, and HKN are organizing our very first "EDI Townhall" where we plan on sharing student experiences and opinions about current EDI issues at UCLA School of Engineering. While we are focusing this round of efforts on the student organization experience, we want to hear from you and your opinions on various EDI related topics. If you have 5 minutes, please fill out this form and help us get feedback!
The form is here: https://tinyurl.com/uclaedi
Member of the Week
Christian Giron-Michel
Year and major: Freshman, Electrical Engineering
Hobbies: PC gaming (Valorant), running, ping pong, going to the gym, and (no shame) Reddit scrolling
Favorite memory with IEEE: Locking in for the last 2 hours at IDEAHacks to get our website to display actual sensor data (and somehow losing my voice in the process).
Your most useless talent or fun fact: My PR for sleep is 15 hours (12 am - 3 pm, on a Saturday of course).
Favorite Artist, Song, or Album: Favorite Artist: EVE (JPN)-- For some reason, listening to this guy's music doubles my focus, so if you find my doing homework with earbuds in, there's a ~50% chance I'm listening to an EVE playlist.
What you would be doing if time and money were not an issue: Learning new concepts at the slowest pace imaginable (to guarantee the truest, deepest understanding), as I travel from country to country whenever the mood hits me.
Piece of advice to our readers: Productivity is a zero-sum game: if you've been locked in for the past 12 hours, prepare to be useless for the next 12 (at least if you're anything like me). I feel like I never truly got to experience this trade-off until IDEAHacks, which was my first real hackathon experience.
