Basic Circuits Workshop
6:30 pm to 8:00 pm on October 6th, 2022 in the Shannon Room in Engineering IV
If you want to get started with electrical engineering, you should first learn a little bit about electricity! We will start from the beginning with how electricity works, basic rules of circuits, and the most common components. Whether resistors, transistors, or LEDs, the behavior of electronic components will be clarified as you work hands-on with partners to build and test simple circuits. This workshop is beginner-focused and open to all majors and skill levels, and we hope to see you there! RSVP here!
IEEE Boba Social

Opportunities
IEEE Alumni Mentorship Program
Applications are open until Monday, November 7th at 11:59pm.
The Alumni Mentorship Program applications are now open to all IEEE members! This program aims to inspire, guide, and engage current IEEE members through the experienced guidance of IEEE alumni. Our mentors have a broad range of experiences in the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science industries/education. You will be matched to a mentor who can best provide advice on what you need. Apply here now! If you are an alumni, you can apply to be a mentor or a guest panelist here and here!
Urgent Opening for a Raspberry Pi Internship @Traction Labs LLC
We need a person with experience using Raspberry Pis and similar devices as well as C++ and familiarity with java and understanding of python. Experience or understanding of AWS cloud with lambda functions is a plus.
Tasks may include upgrading the pi OS and possibly designing new features such as adding a Wi-Fi module or cellular boards onto the pi.
Ideally, we are looking for a student due to graduate in the next term or year; we are also open to international students - most, if not all of the work can be done remotely. We would want the hired intern to start as early as possible, preferably starting September.
Please contact Ravindra Kondagunta (Ravi) at ravi@traction-labs.com for more information & any questions. Thank you!
Thank you very much!
Member of the Week
Esha Thota
Year and major: Junior, Computer Engineering
Involvement with IEEE: Internal Vice President
Hobbies: I like playing tennis and ultimate frisbee & reading disturbing short stories (the kind they make you read in HS english classes)
Favorite memory with IEEE: The IM FrisbIEEE team was a huge highlight of my sophomore college experience :)
Your most useless talent or fun fact: One of my parents has 11 fingers!
What you would be doing if time and money were not an issue: I’d probably just chill in the sun somewhere, reading new books and trying new food.
Piece of advice to our readers: Always go after the things you want- don’t let yourself be held back by fear of the unknown! You’re incredibly capable and deserve everything you want, so leverage the opportunities at hand to get there!

Meme of the Week
Because what is “Coffee Lake Refresh Family” (Intel 8th Gen microprocessor), “Big Electric Cat” (Adobe Photoshop 4.0), “Brick” (Apple Aluminum MacBook Line Late 2008), to name a few.
Your humble Secretary, Theo Zhang, made this meme. I’m running out of ideas already, please submit meme ideas or memes here.
Poll of the Week
As always, fill out this form to suggest what our meme or poll should be for next week.
If you’ve read this far, leave a comment about why your poll choice is superior and like the post for 3 lab bucks!

I personally would bring a flashlight because I heard that once, Boelter Hall had an open elevator shaft with wasps inside, and on the off chance that it re-opens and wasps re-enter, I want to be able to avoid that.
