Executive Board Election

6:30 pm to 9:00 pm on April 17th in the Shannon Room Engineering IV

Hello to all IEEE members! Come make your mark on the 2023-2024 IEEE Board by voting for the positions of President, Internal and External Vice President, and Treasurer on Monday, April 17th. Wireless Communications Workshop

6:30 pm to 8:00 pm on April 19th in the Shannon Room Engineering IV

There’s a lot that goes into beaming that TikTok to your phone. Analog, digital, electromagnetics, signal processing, oh my! In this workshop, we’ll give a lightning-fast walkthrough of the whole communication process. You’ll learn how we carry information in signals, transmit and receive waves, and build up to protocols like WiFi and Bluetooth before working hands-on to let Arduinos talk to each other over 100 meters away!

Alumni Mentorship Program Meeting 3: Exploring Career Choices

8:00 pm to 9:00 pm on April 20th, Online

Welcome back AMP members! Have you been split between what career path you want to pursue? Do you feel as if you need direction on how to choose? Well, luck for you, our second to last meeting of the year will be on Thursday, April 20th on Zoom! You will get a chance to talk to all the mentors about their careers and experiences in larger groups, learning more about all of AMP’s mentors. Hope to see you there!

Next Week’s Events

UCLA x USC IEEE Bonfire

Make sure to register to vote at http://tinyurl.com/ieee-voters23 AT LEAST 24 HOURS before the Election Day. We hope to see you all there!

Projects

WorkshOPS 3: Intro to Industry (A HarwareIEEEs Dream)

6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on April 18th, IEEE Lab

This one goes out to our CS family, and by out we mean OUT. That's right, it's time to enter the HardwarIEEEs dreamscape with a workshOPS dedicated to pure hardware. Let's find out what you're made of without our Arduino friend, and dive a little into the industry. This workshop will give OPS the opportunity to use their engineering intuition, sketch/build their own schematic, and learn key techniques such as soldering, continuity testing, and the infamous elevator pitch. Those who complete the workshop will get the opportunity to pitch their design in a 1 minute elevator pitch with 2 minute Q&A to get a feel for technical questions that may occur in the industry. This workshop will require an EAGLE download so please follow this link: https://tinyurl.com/OPS22-WorkshOPS3-EAGLE. Additionally you must bring your Arduino kit as we'll need some of the components from it.
